New Spaces for Splendid Interiors

Welcome to the first newsletter for ‘Splendid Interiors’.  After 7 exciting and successful years of working at Simply Splendid with Norma we agreed to go our different ways.

I will continue to work on Interior finishes for building projects, and decorating and furnishing homes and spaces.

My first project was an exciting revamp of an old house in Parkhurst.  The client decided the house needed a facelift and although it is a rental home, she bravely agreed to undertake a significant renovation. We needed to keep the costs as low as possible with the maximum effect.

The house had ‘good bones’ but was tired and in need of some major work to clean and change the inside and outside of the house.

The old terracotta tiles were removed and replaced with modern tiles and cement flagstones.  The pool was cleaned and renovated and and we converted an unsightly retaining wall to a fabulous rock gabion feature wall.

And now…

Once we removed the carpets we found beautiful old oak flooring that we cleaned and sanded – what a difference!
We removed a wall of ugly shelving and moved the TV to above the fireplace to create a more comfortable cosy living area.

The old kitchen needed some serious TLC and by just repainting and replacing the cupboard doors and tops, the transformation was amazing.

We replaced all the paving around the house and reworked the garden and pathways.  The roof and walls were all painted and the overall look of the house is clean and much more modern.

I am now working on a new build with a an old client (!) who is building a fabulous house in the Silver Lakes area of Pretoria. I am currently working with them to select and design the kitchen, BIC’s, tiles, lighting etc to make sure the end product will look like this!
